Mandatory Leave Policy

During the Fall 2017 term, the U of T community witnessed extensive debate about the proposed Mandatory Leave of Absence Policy, a policy that specifically targets students with mental health disabilities. While the policy itself is controversial, the consultation process and the way in which the policy was developed has also spurred conversation. A wide range of student groups have spoken out against the policy, demanding that either significant changes be made or that the policy be revoked in its entirety. As the University prepares a revised version of the policy, the debate among the U of T community continues.
